Sangtekst: Porter Wagoner. Jasper County Law.

You know things look a whole lot different when you're a kid a growin' up
Than they look when you become about 21
Or at least they did for me in the Jasper County law
Daddy died when I was a baby mama done her best to raise me
To be the kinda man my daddy was
My daddy was a hero mama always said so daddy died defending the Jasper County law
The Jasper County law was the law my daddy stood for
The Jasper County law was the law he lived and died for
Daddy was a brave man he stood up proud and tall
Daddy died a hero for the Jasper County law
I often thought of leavin' mama was the only reason I stayed in Jasper County at all
But I longed for excitement and I found delightment
In making lots of trouble for the Jasper County law
Well I quit my troublemakin' cause mama's heart was breakin'
She paid for all the trouble that I caused

I know I should've had more respect for her and dad
And the things my daddy stood for with the Jasper County law
The Jasper County law was the law my daddy stood for
The Jasper County law was the law he lived and died for
Now I want to make up for all the time I've lost
I want to be a part of the Jasper County law
Yes I want to justify the troubles that I've caused
I want to be a service to the Jasper County law
